Free to be, learn, and grow!
The Mississippi Children’s Museum Launch Into Learning Afterschool program is a place where children can be supported, whether they require help with learning, social emotional needs, or even just a safe place to be while parents are at work. We spoke with Monique Ealey and her team at MCM to better understand the mission and benefits of their program.
What is the mission of MCM Launch Into Learning?
- The mission of MCM is to create unparalleled experiences to inspire excellence and a lifelong joy of learning.
What services do you provide?
- In addition to being a children’s museum daily, we also provide the following services:
- Spring Break Camps
- Winter Break Camps
- Summer Break Camps
- Afterschool Program
- Professional Development for Educators
- Educational Outreach Programs for Schools and Childcare Centers
What would you say your greatest success is?
Our greatest success to date is how quickly we responded to the needs of children and families at the onset of the pandemic. We quickly pivoted our entire business model, closed our doors as a museum and opened them as a day school, supporting children in their virtual learning, providing meals and snacks, social emotional support, and a safe space for children while parents had to work.
What is your favorite part of the program?
My favorite part of the program is that children get to come to such an amazing and inspirational space, be free to be children, learn, and grow!
Afterschool programs keep kids safe, inspire and motivate them, and give parents peace of mind. We can’t thank programs like the Mississippi Children’s Museum enough for doing their part in giving children safe spaces to learn and grow. Learn more about Mississippi Children’s Museum here.
